SCRIPT PLANNING
I will be taking forward idea 2 from my developed ideas. This extract takes place as the protagonist, Violet, tells Alex, her brother, that his best friend had assaulted her. they then go to the police station together at the end of the extract. The scene includes characters Violet, Alex, Violets parents and the police.
This is for the show 'The way I used to be' at the end of episode 7 (final scene), a drama series.
The target audience for my show is 16-21 year olds as stated in my initial client brief. The audience for this is mainly girls - who may be able to relate to the protagonist and the key themes of the show - but may also appeal to men who want to educate themselves and learn more about the struggles of the protagonist.
The script I will be making is a shooting script. This script can be used when producing the short promotional video so will contain technical instructions such as camera angles and movements, shot types, editing instructions, scene numbers and soundtrack information as well as the dialogue of the characters.
This script is being wrote for a promotional 10-15 minute video for a Leeds based production company, from a client brief. This is to entice potential viewers to watch the show and can be shared around social media platforms or websites where my target audience may be active.
The angle of the article for this extract is from the protagonists perspective, as the whole show is based off her and what happens to her. Although the show follows a lot of people is really all comes back to her, and we see this at times when everything and everyone else becomes muffled and muted and its just her (to show her zoning out/dissociating).
The first scene in this script is when Violet is in her house with Alex and her parents, then her parents leave and she eventually has the emotional conversation with Alex. The second scene is when Violet goes into the police station and talks to the officer who was in her house about what happened to her. the third scene is when Alex drives Violet home after. The most prominent scene is the first scene, both in length and dramatically.
My ACTION BLOCKS will be in present tense, as my characters speak. This is where I will list any slangs or colloquialism the characters use, as they won't be using accents. This could also be where any VOICEOVER is placed, however I am not planning to use this is this scene.
I will be using 12pt Courier font to fit with industry standards for the format of screenplay. I will also use the industry standard format and layout conventions of TV drama screenplay.
